USE OF Forceps ; an instrument with the basic purpose of “holding”.
MAKING OF FORCEPS : forceps are so made that there is “elastic element” between its two prongs/holders !
According to the purpose for which forceps have to be used, the ends of the two arms can be wither blunt , or sharp, or pointed.
Dissecting forceps are those , in which the edges (where things are picked/held from) are rough , so that the tissue is gripped easily, then the tissue is lifted to some extent to that an incision can be made with precision in the part , and also the depth so required ! This is the very basic use of DISSECTING FORCEPS .
Forceps , are not used in medical field only . They may be used by jewellers , electronic engineers etc etc, and this depends on the various styles and make-formats of the forceps as mentioned above !
